MORRIS T. LENTZ
(Nominated by Amanda Gilbreath)
Huntsville Jaycees Building
July 27, 2011

Morris Lentz is a servant of his community.  He is Vice-President of Bank Independent, where he works to help the people of his community to have a better life.  He is also involved with several community organizations and has been volunteering in his community for over 30 years. He also serves his community as a volunteer fire fighter.  In February of 2009, he suffered life changing injuries while fighting a house fire, when a wall collapsed on him. His injuries included broken back, leg, ribs (all of them), punctured lung, fractured pelvis, and a concussion.  He spent almost two months in the hospital and rehab, before coming home to continue therapy for over a year. With these types of injuries, many people would have given up, but not Morris.  He has continued to give of his time to the community.  Even though he still has pain from those injuries, he is back fighting fires with the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department.  He is a true hero to his community.
