Bill served in the US Army from 1952-54 and was stationed in Germany. He has been a member of the Medina and Southport Lions Club since 1966. Bill has volunteered with Meals On Wheels, Operation Homes For The Homeless, the Food Pantry and as a St. Peter Lutheran Church Choir Member And Lay Assistant. He is currently supervisor for the Southport/Oak Island Food Pantry. Presently, the Food Pantry serves over 400 families each month and is supported by a group of over 170 volunteers, all through the leadership of Bill and the support of individuals, local churches, service organizations and partnerships with local food chains who responded to Bill’s request to “feed the hungry”. Bill has also been a volunteer fireman for 29 years, and received the Walter Welsh Award in recognition of his outstanding service in the community in 2011.
