Craig Carson is a Deputy Sheriff with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. He is assigned to a General Crimes Unit responsible for investigating felony crimes and also to an ATF task force investigating armed drug dealers and firearm traffickers. Craig has demonstrated what a law enforcement officer should be, caring and compassionate to victims of crimes and very fair to criminals. He was recently involved in a water rescue at night where an elderly gentleman who had been wind surfing in a river became incapacitated from extreme cold. Craig and a fellow agent in a Sheriff’s Patrol boat, fighting large swells with blowing winds and rain, found the elderly male hanging on the surf board barely alive.  He transferred the man into the boat and provided first aide until he could get him to shore and to emergency medical responders.  On Sept 11, 2001, Craig was employed with the NYPD. He was present when the planes hit the towers and spent many weeks helping to recover people and search for his brother law enforcement officers. He lost many friends that day and is an appropriate hero to stitch the National 9/11 Flag.
