David and Mary Jo Brostrom are the parents of Army 1LT Jonathan P. Brostrom of Alea, Hawaii who was killed in action. On July 13, 2008, 1LT Brostrom was one of nine soldiers killed when enemy forces attacked their outpost with small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades in Wanat, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborn), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based in Vicenza, Italy. David Brostrom is a retired Army Colonel. LT Brostrom was 24 years old.
