Staff Sergeant Lyle McVay trained in Fort Jordan, Fort Dix, Fort Leavenworth and Fort Hamilton in England. Sergeant McVay was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division landing on Utah Beach.
Lyle has been awarded the Good Conduct Medal and Purple Heart. He was married to his lovely wife Joanne Lewis for 59 years, raising four children Cheryl, Dee, Kent and Brian McVay.
Lyle played a big part in getting residents of the Carriage House Assisted Living Center to safety on the night of May 4, 2007.
