Mary Ellen McGowan, Helena

MARY ELLEN MCGOWAN
(Nominated by Jo Radtke)
The State Capitol Building
August 2, 2011

Mary Ellen is an outstanding volunteer in our community serving youth organizations both as a leader and as after-school sewing instructor for the last 38 plus years.  She is easy to find, just locate the nearest service event and she will be there, cleaning city flowerbeds, picking up garbage, or teaching young kids the art of sewing. I think Mary Ellen should be given the privilege of stitching the National 9/11 Flag and it would be fitting to have such an accomplished seamstress, volunteer, and community leader recognized for her abilities, service and heart.
