Norman & Ruth Ann Spicer, Dover

NORMAN & RUTH ANN SPICER
(Nominated by Linda Rogers)
Dover Fire Department Headquarters
June 16, 2011

I am nominating Norman & Ruth Ann Spicer, in honor of losing their son, Patrolman Chad Spicer who was shot and killed in the line of duty on September 1, 2009.  He and his partner attempted to stop a vehicle that had been involved in a shooting a short time earlier. Ruth Ann and Norman have lived through the trial and the suspect has been sentenced to death. Chad had been an officer for 4 years and was 29 years old.  He leaves behind his loved ones: a young toddler daughter, parents, brother, two sisters and fiancee.  He loved music, was in the church choir and was active in the community. The grandparents are raising his daughter.  They have been strong and fortunately had a lot of support from other family members and the community Chad loved so much. Chad would be so proud to have his parents take part in this very special ceremony in Dover.
