David Gist, Sr., Oklahoma City

DAVID GIST, SR.
(Nominated by Lanora Gist)
Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum
April 20, 2011

My husband David Gist Sr. is a military veteran and Wounded Warrior Alumnus. He also volunteers at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum and will be on flag detail on April 19th 2011 when the National 9/11 Flag will be at the museum. I would love for him to be able to stitch the National 9/11 Flag. As a student at OSU-OKC (Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City) he participates in a project called Service Learning, an educational opportunity that allows the students to apply classroom learning within the community in which they go to school, work and/or live. When he requested the day off to participate in the National 9/11 ceremony, his teacher asked that staff be allowed to take pictures for use in Service Learning and possibly the new Veteran’s Center on campus to honor him as a “one of our stars of Service Learning and a Vet.”
