Army Specialist Carlos Leon is a perfect candidate to be given the privilege of stitching The National 9/11 Flag.  Specialist Leon is not only a Wounded Warrior, he is also a first responder and volunteer as well.  Specialist Leon is a resident of New York and was a first responder while serving with the 1st, 69th Infantry Regiment (Fighting 69) in New York.  Following 9/11, Specialist Leon served four tours of duty in Iraq while serving with the New York Army National Guard and Army Reserves.  While transitioning from active duty into the Wounded Warrior program at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Specialist Leon signed up to volunteer at the VA Community Living Center and is currently visiting and socializing with hospitalized veterans twice a week at this Center.   Specialist Leon is an American citizen, born in Peru, whose father is also a veteran.
