Edward Norris IV, St. Louis

CAPTAIN EDWARD NORRIS IV
(Nominated by Amy Norris)
Soldiers Memorial
November 11, 2010

CPT Norris (Ward) is my husband and father to our two children (4 and 6 yrs old). Our actual hometown is Cookeville, TN where Ward served in the National Guard for seven years.  After the 9/11 attacks, he asked me to marry him and go active duty Army. He was commissioned and sent to the 10th MTN DIV, Fort Drum, NY.

After four years, two children and two deployments to Iraq, we were sent here to St. Louis where he works with engineers to modernize the Army.  We were a little nervous to take on this very nontraditional military assignment but have been blown away with the patriotism and support we found in St. Louis!

While we know that his next assignment will include deployments, three years stateside has made him feel very detached from the Army.  I would love to give him this memory and give him a tangible opportunity to remember 9/11, our sacrifice and the greater sacrifice of friends who didn’t come home with him. Thank you for considering my hero.
