I want to nominate my dad. He will be 89 next week. He served in World War II, was in New Guinea and contracted Dengue Fever and Malaria. He has not talked much about his wartime experience. He has an 8th grade education but he is a very smart man – one of the Great Generation. He is the father of 5 children and was the caregiver for his wife who has Alzheimer’s Disease for over 10 years, wearing himself out; he had to go to the nursing home before she did. He has lost a lot of his hearing and has bad arthritis, especially in his hands. (Pictured is a member of his family)
