Lois Arney, Huntsville

LOIS ARNEY
(Nominated by Lisa Matice)
Huntsville Jaycees Building
July 27, 2011

I would like to nominate my mother, Lois Arney (who turns 80 this year), to place a stitch in the National 9/11 Flag.  After retiring from nursing at Fox Army Hospital, mom has been a disaster services volunteer for the American Red Cross for 13 years.  She was one of the members of the group from Huntsville who went to New York City after the attacks. Mom has gone all over the country aiding victims of floods, tornados, fires and hurricanes.  Most recently she volunteered during our own community’s disaster when fierce tornados ripped neighborhoods apart.  However, of all the disasters she volunteered for, she was mostly deeply touched by the people of New York.  Please consider her for this honor.
