Joshua Doss Johnson, Mount Rushmore

JOSHUA DOSS JOHNSON
(Nominated by Jan Johnson)
Mount Rushmore National Memorial
August 9, 2011

I would like to nominate my 15 year son, Josh Johnson.   He has been the most patriotic kid I know for as long as I can remember. As a cub scout in Hill City he proudly did flag ceremonies at every opportunity, for every weekly scout meeting, the National Park Service, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Marching in the local parades.  He’s always treated the flag with the utmost respect and displays one in his room today. Joshua has been active in the Crazy Horse division of the Civil Air Patrol since he was about 13 and has achieved Chief Master Sergeant Rank to date.  Last spring he led a group of Cadets to the Regional Competition with his Color Guard and they took 2nd place. He was very disappointed that they narrowly missed 1st place as he saw it as his one opportunity to lead a color guard at the White House and meet President Obama. I am very proud of my son and know that he would be honored to put a stitch in the 911 flag when it comes to Mt. Rushmore on August 9, 2011. Joshua attends the Hill City School system which includes students from Keystone.  We live 9 miles from Mt. Rushmore.
