Layton Warn was born in 1921 in Halsey Nebraska. Layton finished high school in Nebraska and then moved to Nickerson Kansas to work in his uncle’s grocery store. In 1940 Layton joined the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the Medical
Department at Wheeler Field in Hawaii where he witnessed the Japanese raid at Pearl Harbor. After the war he returned to Nickerson to live. Layton received a BS in electrical engineering from Kansas State University. After retiring Layton has become a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
