MARY FERGUSON
(Nominated by The National 9/11 Flag Restoration Team)
ST. JOHN’S PREP
March 24, 2011

Mary Ferguson has a very special attachment to The National 9/11 Flag.  Mary’s late husband, George Ferguson, along with Maria Isabel Ramirez, were the two people who perished at 90 West Street on 9/11, the building from which The National 9/11 Flag was recovered.  It was through Mary’s suggestion that we are having this ceremony at St. John’s Prep today to honor the legacy of George Ferguson, a third generation graduate of this school, and whose family has strong roots in Danvers, Mass. Mary has taught us about the importance of focusing on the positive, about the need to bring people together, and about the importance of being there for one another as part of the continuing healing process. Her positive outlook and enthusiasm for The National 9/11 Flag restoration effort provide us the inspiration to continue on and complete this historic national journey to restore this national treasure.
