Gene is a Vietnam veteran who, upon return from the service, joined the Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department in 1971. He was the Silver Lake Fire Chief for 25 Years, choosing not to seek reappointment in December, 2010. He has also served the department as Assistant Chief, training officer and remains an active firefighter. Gene has contributed countless hours to improve our department, not just by keeping modern equipment in our hall, but stressing proper training in the use of the equipment and safety of fellow firefighters. These are only a few reasons Gene deserves this honor.
