Hawaii Stories

Fred Ballard, Honolulu

(Nominated by Darrell Grishman)
On Deck of The Battleship U.S.S. Missouri (BB63)
Pearl Harbor

December 7, 2010

I would like to nominate Fred Ballard because of his service to the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, his continuing advocacy for Veterans, and the work he and his wife Sandy did for Branch 46 of the Naval  Fleet Reserve Association.  He has been an influence on not only my life, but my sister’s life and my mother’s and many others.  He and his wife moved to Hawaii and started all over again.  I visited for two weeks.  When I arrived, they didn’t even have utensils, like Honeymooners all over again.  They made it work and have stayed where Fred will live out his remaining days.
