Jack Wilson, a 66 year life member of the American Legion Newburgh Kapperman Post 44, served as a Staff Sergeant with distinction in the US Army during World War II.  Staff Sergeant Wilson served with Company “D”, 141st Infantry, 36th Division.  His campaigns included North Africa, Rapido River, Monte Casino, Rome, Southern France, Moselle River, St. Ames and Vosges Mountains in the “Lost Battalion”  His may medals included The Bronze Star, 3 Purple Hearts, Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, French Legion Medal of Honor and the American Legion Medal for Heroism.
